Kenya is significantly bolstering its scientific and technological collaboration with China, with a renewed commitment to leverage these partnerships for national development.

This was the key message from Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, who recently represented Kenya at the 2nd Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange in Chengdu, China.

During the conference, CS Ogamba held a crucial bilateral meeting with Yin Hejun, China’s Minister of Science and Technology.

The discussions reiterated both nations’ dedication to deepening and expanding cooperation in science, research, innovation, and technology. This builds upon an existing Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Kenya and China, which outlines a framework for joint initiatives.

While the exact details of these areas are yet to be publicly disclosed, the move signifies a strategic focus on tangible outcomes from the partnership.

“We reaffirmed our commitment to deepen and expand cooperation in science, research, innovation, and technology, building on the recently signed Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between our two countries,” Ogamba confirmed
