Speaker Wetang’ula commends Huawei ICT Competition award winning students

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Monday hosted a delegation of Kenyan university students who recently achieved outstanding success at the prestigious Huawei ICT Competition held in China.

The students, drawn from various universities across the country, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker to celebrate their remarkable performance in the global competition.

They representing Kenya in four key categories network, computing, cloud and AI innovation the teams demonstrated exceptional talent and innovation. In the annual competition sponsored by Huawei Technologies.

The computing track team emerged as global champions, securing the first prize, while an all-girls team impressed by clinching second place in the cloud track category.

Wetang’ula encouraged the students to remain focused and resilient in their journey, stating, “Success is a constantly moving target — one that demands ongoing dedication, innovation and personal growth.”

He commended Huawei for its role in supporting youth empowerment through technology and education.

“Such initiatives are vital in nurturing talent, promoting knowledge exchange, and equipping our young people with the practical skills necessary to thrive in a digital economy,” the speaker noted.

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is a Chinese multinational corporation and technology company headquartered in Longgang, Shenzhen, Guangdong.
