Makueni branch KNUT chairman Samuel Mulwa has urged the Teachers Service Commission, (TSC) to consider teachers who have stayed for long without permanent employment, saying that they are aging without enjoying the fruits of their academic.
While speaking during Madaraka day celebrations at Mukuyuni primary school, he called upon area MP Joshua Kimilu to raise the issue of unemployed teachers who graduated way back from 2011 and up to now they have not been employment.
“It is becoming a great concern, these teachers are suffering. They have overstayed without enjoying what they worked for, do not forget they are aging, time is not moving backward,” Mulwa said.

The union leader also wondered why is it that when the government is bringing books to schools, it brings the right number but when it comes to capitation, they use NEMIS and on top of it bring less amount to schools.
“For real, principals are suffering running schools with nothing or less than it’s expected,” Mulwa said.
He appreciated the governor’s work in schools especially on ECDE and employment of ECDE teachers.
“Governor you have done very good work in education. We have noticed that there are ECDE classes with a big population and we request if you can add one more teacher to tackle the work,” Mulwa said.

Responding on Mulwa’s concerns, the area MP Joshua Kimilu who was at the same function said capitation should be released to schools even if it means the MPs stop every activity they are doing for the betterment of the children.
Kimilu also noted that issuing employment letters during political functions should seize and let TSC take its full job.
“No politicizing employment to teachers. I urge TSC, take up your full role,” Kimilu warned
