The Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has said they will be no salary increment to Junior Secondary school heads.
Ogamba who appeared before the Senate Committee on Wednesday, May 7, told the senators that the ministry has ruled out the possibility of primary school head teachers getting enhanced pay rise due to their expanded responsibilities under the Competency Based Curriculum which includes overseeing junior secondary schools.
“Their terms would remain guided by the 2022-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement that TSC signed with teacher unions.

The CS also revealed that 343, 485 registered teachers are yet to be employed by the government, citing that the TSC is premised on various issues among other factors, the availability of funds and existence of vacancies.
Ogamba also said that as the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Teachers Service Commission have annually submitted budgetary proposals and policy recommendations to the National Assembly Education Committee advocating for adequate funding and legislative support to facilitate teachers’ recruitment but little effort is being made.
