Man jailed 15 years for defiling step daughter for over one year

A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for defiling his step daughter continuously for a year.

A man in Timau, Meru County, has been jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of defiling his step daughter repeatedly on the pain of death.

The abuse took place for over a year before the law finally caught up with the suspect.

Nanyuki Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Mararo said the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the man repeatedly defiled his step daughter while threatening to kill her if she exposed him.

Mararo found the accused guilty of violating the Sexual Offences Act.

During the trial, the court heard that between March 2020 and May 2021, the accused, who is the stepfather of the victim, repeatedly defiled her and threatened her with death if she reported the abuse.

The prosecution, through Prosecution Counsel Maina Kimaru, presented six witnesses, establishing the accused’s culpability beyond any reasonable doubt.
