KUPPET and KNUT Taita Taveta officials accompanied the Senate Education Committee in visiting the office the Governor Andrew Mwadime and the TSC County Director Dr. Esther Njiru following the petition on hardship allowance on teachers in hardship zones of Rong’e zone, Taita and Taveta Sub-counties.
The committee was also briefed about the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) being a devolved function.

County Executive Committee Member for Education, Libraries and Vocational Training Centre Gloria Monikombo also supported the move on hardship allowances payment.
This is a response following the petition made by KNUT as the first petitioner and KUPPET the second petitioner to TSC filed in the labour court.

The Committee then proceeded to Lumi Primary School and Lumi Secondary School to assess the situation.
Later they toured Taveta sub-county at Timbila Primary School where teachers were given an opportunity to express themselves on the challenges they are facing without hardship allowances.
Teachers hope that the committee will include all the reasonable challenges faced by the teachers in Taita Taveta in their report to allow them start receiving their hardship allowances.
