Campaigns to replace Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Bungoma East branch Executive Secretary Aggrey Namisi have intensified.
The seat fell vacant following the election of Namisi as the Second Vice Chairperson of the Union.
Branch Chairperson Robert Mandila has already launched his campaigns seeking teachers’ votes to replace Namisi.
He has urged his competitors to maintain peaceful and sober campaigns ahead of the by-election slated for March 9.
“I urge my fellow contestants to approach the mini polls professionally and we must stay united before, during and after the elections,” he said.
Mandila promised to fight for the profession as well as social progression of teachers.
The spot has already attracted three candidates – Elvis Waswa, James Wekesa and Patrick Karema – as Alex Wafula and Emmanuel Ngoya are gunning for branch chairmanship.
