The girl who topped Town View Academy in West Pokot Subira Cheruto Ritenyang scored 413 marks in the last KCPE examination, bringing wild celebrations as Makutano town hailed her performance for close to three hours.
Immediately the results were announced, crowds flocked her home in nearby Murkwijit, among them teachers, colleagues and school management, before hitting the road in a long procession with songs and dances.
Thanking her class teacher Robert Makokha and all the teachers who prepared the class 8 candidates, she attributed her success to full concentration on her studies.
As Education News Visited her home, the family was still in the mood of celebration.

Her mother Rhoda Rumaita said the girl is always patient, disciplined and very keen while performing her duties and assignments. She teaches at Kitalaposho Primary School in Kapenguria West Pokot County.
