The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a stern warning to the invigilators not to share highly confidential information with anyone who wasn’t authorized, especially the candidates, until the commencement of the exams to prevent exam-leaking.

The announcement made on Monday, urged KCSE Centre Managers to exercise extreme caution when it came to the advanced confidential instructions for preparing science practical examination papers.

It was emphasized that strict adherence to KNEC rules and regulations was paramount, as any deviation from these guidelines could result in sanctions, as outlined in the KNEC Act.

According to the Act, those found guilty of unauthorized access to examination materials and the subsequent disclosure, either verbally or in writing, to unauthorized parties, including candidates, could face severe penalties.

Similarly, individuals who intentionally and maliciously tamper with examination materials or attempt to impersonate registered candidates, or those who possess or present counterfeit certificates or diplomas, also risk imprisonment for up to twelve months or a fine not exceeding Ksh. 500,000, or both.
