Primary and secondary schools in Matungulu Constituency have received textbooks to aid the candidates in revision ahead of their final exams courtesy of their MP Stephen Mule.

Addressing head teachers and students during the donation ceremony at the constituency offices, Mule said he wanted Matungulu Constituency to be a model of academic excellence.

He noted that in 2013, the constituency had only nine secondary schools but the number has doubled to 18 with plans to construct more day schools.

Mule said this meant more job opportunities for teachers and other staff.

The MP said education was the best gift a parent could give their children, asking parents in the region to support measures aimed at improving education standards.

He commended teachers for their good work, pointing out that the country had produced in the recent past the best teacher as ranked by UNESCO.
