Kisii residents had their hopes high that the visit of President William Ruto to the County a few days ago would see the launching of Kisii University’s Nyangweta Campus, but they remain a disappointed lot despite the President handing them other goodies.

The Residents expected the president could announce the opening of the long-awaited campus during his tour but this did not happen.

They now ask the newly appointed Kisii University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Nathan Ogechi to follow up on the matter with the President and the Cabinet Secretary for Education to see to it that the campus was opened for the benefit of the residents.

The residents who were led by Elder Job Ochari revealed that the County government allocated 50 acres of land for the campus which started seven years ago.

They said if the campus was established, it would besides creating employment for locals uplift the economic standards of the people around the institution and also boost the education standards in the region.

When President Ruto visited the County recently he launched several projects including 75 kilometer road in Bomachoge Chache Constituency to connect with South Mugirango, Rongo, Awendo and Uriri Constituencies.

“In the previous days, we could take a whole day travelling on the muddy road of Nyansara from Ogembo to Nyakwayo but it will take us a very shorter time.” Said Priscah Otieno.
