Coast and Nyanza regions over the weekend reigned supreme at the close of the Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association ball games in Kisumu by qualifying to represent Kenya in soccer at the regional fete in Rwanda respectively.
Coast region eclipsed Nairobi in a tense final at the Kisumu boys high school grounds.
The teams later went for a marathon penalty shootout after the game ended in a barren draw at full time.
Nyanza also cruised past Western in soccer and also managed to lift the Netball crown after edging the rift valley.
Rift Valley region asserted its dominance in volleyball by lifting both the boys and girls titles to their credit.
Officials of the event said no handball team will represent the country at the regional event in Kigali due to lack of funds.
However, Nyanza lifted the girls title while Eastern lifted the boys crown.
Association chairman Ben Achieng announced that teams will go to camp in Kakamega after which they will proceed to Busia and later to Mbarara and eventually to Rwanda.
Achieng said the government will cater for all the players’ expenses.

Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa graced the occasion alongside Nyanza regional director of education Nelson Sifuna.
