Legalization of LGBTQ rights would ruin education, culture, women-rep says

Nyamira County Woman Representative, Jerusah Momamyi, has condemned the Supreme Court’s decision to bar government from denying the controversial LGBTQ community to be registered as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO)  by its members who are pushing for the legalization of same-sex marriages in the country. The County representative argued that the introduction of the NGO would lead to a push for rights that would lead to ruin of African morals, something that would challenge education and normal way of life.
While speaking with other leaders from Gusii region recently, the Women Representative said that the practice is foreign and contradictory to the African culture.
“From the great times of our ancestors, it is still a taboo for a man or woman to marry another person of the same sex,” she said.
Mrs. Momanyi reminded her constituents that Africans have their own code of regulations that have governed them well for a long time. She further asked them not to exonerate any external cultural interference.
“We as mothers, will not allow our children to embrace this abuse of their bodies with this blinding developments,” she added.
Her sentiments were echoed by Itibo Market Chairman Elias Okari who asked all parents to condemn the practice and teach their children to stick to the African way of life.
The Chairman asked the CS for education Ezekiel Machogu to declare an urgent order for principals and their Boards of Schools Management to move from one school to another to severely castigate the need for introduction of such unnatural acts.
“Let our CS move with speed and stop this evil before it permeates into our schools and Universities,” he said.
Other leaders from Gusii region who have condemned the practice include Kisii County Woman Representative Doris Aburi, Kisii Branch KUPPET Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha and Abagusii Council of Elders General Secretary Bosire Angwenyi.
