Parents told to ensure all KCPE candidates transit to high school

By Agnes Orang’o

Kathiani Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Mary Kamau has urged parents to send all their children who sat for 2022 national examinations to school to ensure the 100 per cent transition policy is enforced.

Speaking at a public gathering in Kathiani town, Kamau noted that all learners who finished primary school in 2021 should also be in school.

“Secondary school education is free and those whose children sat for KCPE last year should also enroll their children in high school. It’s not a must to take your child where they were called, there are day schools which are cheaper and government bursaries are given,” she said.

The DCC asked Chiefs and their assistants to ensure no child stays at home while they are supposed to be at school.

She warned that parents who will not take their children to school will risk being arrested.

“Education is the every child’s right and I am asking my officers, the chiefs and the assistants to go around the villages checking to see if all children are in school,” she said.

Also in attendance were; Governor Wavinya Ndeti, his deputy Francis Mwangangi and other leaders.
