President Ruto shall disclose where Grade 6 and 7 learners under the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) will be domiciled in due time.

Speaking to Principals and other education stakeholders from both Kisii and Nyamira counties at Kisii High School, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said that the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms had already compiled views collected in public participation forums and will hand them over to the President for deliberation before pronouncement.

“It is the President who will make the pronouncement by January and then we shall embark on implementation of his decree,” he said.

Machogu asked parents and learners not to be over anxious about the fate of the CBC as the President will make a decision in line with the collected views from the 47 counties countrywide.

Concerning the forthcoming national examinations, the CS said that security measures had been put in place to ensure a successful examination period.

Machogu, who was flanked by the Early Learning and Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Julius Jwan, said that all examination materials had been transported to the 493 storage and distribution centres across the country.

He promised that the examinations will not be compromised as the government had ascertained their credibility.

“Our security personnel will be placed at every station to work with centre managers and supervisors to see the whole process roll out successfully,” said the CS.

On his part, Dr. Jwan asked the public to support Machogu as he discharges his duties.

Jwan noted that Machogu had a long public administration experience and appealed to the public to have confidence in him.

“The CS is an experienced driver behind the wheel of education sector. I ask all education stakeholders to support him to take the sector to the next step,” he appealed.

Machogu’s  entourage to the region  was received by Kisii Deputy County Commissioner Alan Macharia, all Sub County Directors of Education led by County Director Pius  Ngoma and Principals led by Kisii County KESSHA chairman Mrs. Joyce Orioki.

The Principals assured the CS that they had prepared their candidates adequately and that they would produce impressive results.

They asked parents to give candidates ample time to study and provide them with required examination materials.
