School principal murdered in attack by unknown assailants

A Principal of a school in Nyamira county has been found dead after an alleged attack by unknown assailants.

According to the area chief Mr Joseph Obiero, the Rangenyo Girls’ Secondary School head, Lydiah Omwoyo was found with injuries all over her body at her residence in the school.

“She had many critical injuries on the body and was rushed to a Kisii hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival,” he said.

According to Obiero, it seemed that the Principal died after a long struggle with her attackers.

“There were blood trails and scattered items on the floor which indicated that there was some struggle during the attack,” he reported..

Her body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and consequent burial arrangements.

Following the death, Nyamira Police officers moved to the school immediately and commenced investigations.

“We are at the preliminaries of our investigation and we will comment later,” said Kirong, a police officer.

Nyamira County Director of Education Mr Boniface Ouko appealed to the parents, students and the public to remain calm as the police were on top of the matter.

Mr. Ouko mourned the deceased as one of the best principals in the County as she held the best interest of her pupils and the staff at heart.

The parents called for quick investigations to unearth and arrest the attackers.

Among those who sent their condolences to the deceased’s family was the popular radio presenter Elastus Sorobi Moturi though Facebook.

He said that the county had lost a very resourceful education expert and wished her to rest in peace.
