Students of Othaya School go on a rampage

By Allan Kibet

Irate students from Othaya High School went on a rampage on Tuesday destroying goods and property of unknown value at the institution.

The students stormed at the school’s food stores and destroyed all the foodstuff available, pouring sugar, maize flour and rice on the pavements.

They were later heard chanting the latest musical hit ‘hatupangwingwi’ as they exited the institution.

“The students matched with the newly released song Hatupangwingwi. They also were overheard wishing their teachers merry Christmas and prosperous New Year messages as they walked out of the school,” Police authorities say.

It has not been clearly established the reasons for the student’s unrest, even after resuming school from the midterm break granted by the Ministry of Education headed by CS George Magoha, a break that was thought would ease the pressure in schools and eventually reduce the rampant strikes that were witnessed across the country.

The aftermath of the damages became a sight that one cannot behold.
