The Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) has received a boost after the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) pumped in Sh94.1 million to facilitate training of teachers.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), which received the grant under the Kenya Primary Education Development (PRIEDE) project, has disbursed the money to the counties.
Kitui County received the lion share of Sh5.4 million followed by Kakamega and Makueni which received Sh3.7 million and Sh3.6 million respectively.
Other counties that received a big share of the grant include Homa Bay (Sh3.4 million), Machakos (Sh3.4 million), Bungoma (Sh3.2 million), Meru (Sh3.1 million), Nakuru (Sh3 million), Kisii (Sh3 million) and Nandi (Sh2.9 million).
Lamu was allocated Sh393,468, Mombasa (Sh484,670) and Isiolo (Sh498,196).
Between November 2019 to January 2021, the project has trained 52,235 teachers.
