Teachers in West Pokot County have been urged to help learners identify and nurture their talents at an early stage to improve their future social and economic well-being.
The call was made by West Pokot County Director of Education Yobes Magara during a meeting of Heads of Institutions (HOIs) from West Pokot and Pokot South sub-counties held at Chepaipai Hall, Nasokol Girls Secondary School.
Magara also asked school heads to ensure the smooth implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system, noting that it promotes learners’ talents and abilities.
“As we know these days, talents do pay and can improve the social and economic living standards of performers,” said Magara.
He added that learners who participate in co-curricular activities also benefit through improved physical and mental health.
Magara further commended Quality Assurance and Standards Officers for conducting assessments that help ensure efficiency in schools.

West Pokot Sub-County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer Philemon Rop also urged HOIs to strengthen leadership and management in their institutions.
He emphasized the need for proper curriculum organization and implementation, efficient learner welfare systems, positive community involvement in school affairs, and quality physical infrastructure.
Rop also encouraged schools to acquire title deeds and ensure adequate instructional materials are available for learners.
West Pokot Sub-County Director of Education Amos Kibet called on all education stakeholders, including Boards of Management (BOMs), school heads, and teachers, to effectively play their roles in improving education standards.
Kibet further urged HOIs to submit accurate data in reports and operate institutions in accordance with their school registration certificates.
He also stressed the importance of providing clean water for learners and maintaining high standards of hygiene in schools.
Pokot South Sub-County Director of Education Mary Ngolengor challenged school heads to fully take charge of their institutions to enhance efficiency and performance.
