Webuye DEB Mixed Day Senior School emerged as the only senior school from Bungoma County to qualify for the Presidential Gala, held at State House last Friday, after a standout performance at the national music festival that saw it overcome competition from several established institutions.
Principal Sarah Ombolo attributed the achievement to teamwork and the commitment shown by both teachers and learners throughout the festival.
“This achievement belongs to the learners and teachers who worked tirelessly throughout the festival. We are proud of their determination and will continue supporting them to nurture their talents,” Ombolo said, adding that the school intends to build on the experience by strengthening its music and co-curricular programmes going forward.

The feat has drawn commendation from local leaders, led by Matulo MCA Stephen Kaiser, who praised the learners and teachers for putting Webuye and Bungoma County on the national stage. Kaiser said the school’s performance demonstrated that talent and determination could allow learners from emerging institutions to compete favourably with established schools.
The State Gala appearance has given the learners a platform to showcase their talent at the highest level while raising the school’s visibility within Bungoma’s education landscape.
