Spoken word duo from Vulueni secondary school in Makueni County will be representing Kenya in the East Africa Music, Dance and Drama Festival.
The two boys were flagged off by Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo junior to represent the county and Country at large in the fiesta to be held in Uganda.
The two boys who are winners of the Kenya National Drama Festival spoken word item ‘Namba ya Mwisho’ could not control their joy and hopes of winning when they were being hosted by Governor at his office.
The ‘Namba ya mwisho’ storyline is all about challenges forcing youths including drug abuse and the solutions.
The spoken word is done and directed by Music and drama patron Dennis Muteto who is also head of the curriculum department in the school.
Mutula thanked the boys wishing them the best in East Africa adding that they placed the county at the national level early this year during drama festivals in Mombasa.
“They will make Makueni shine not only in nationals but also in East Africa. This is a win for the boys, the school and the county at large,” Mutula.
Mutula called upon students to involve themselves fully in co-curricular activities even as they balance with the co-curricular because talents pay.
