The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), under Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Evaleen Mitei, has signaled the possible end of the punitive Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) that have left many teachers stagnating in the same job grades for years.

While appearing before Members of Parliament yesterday, the Commission revealed that it is ready to present the new promotion guidelines to Parliament for approval in the near future.

The current guidelines were introduced nearly ten years ago during the tenure of former TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia and have faced widespread criticism from teachers across the country.

President William Ruto had earlier assured teachers that the revised guidelines would be unveiled by July this year.

Meanwhile, the Commission is also set to promote 30,000 teachers this year after receiving an additional Ksh 2 billion allocation to facilitate the exercise.
