TSC rolls out second phase of T-PAY validation

By Philemon Kiprop

The Teachers service commission has rolled out the second phase of T-PAY validation in a bid to improve service delivery through the automation of its processes.

According to the commission through a circular dated 8th June, teachers have until the mid of July to update the required information in what the commission says will enhance security of teachers’ information in line with data protection act of 2019.

Tutors in the commission payroll are expected to log into their online pay slips accounts through the TSC website and update their mobile phone numbers, valid email address and upload a passport size photograph.

The commission says only valid codes will be accepted and once verified the number cannot be changed and that the number will be used during loan application and approval. The move is seen as a much needed intervention to prevent intruders who have in the past accessed teachers pay slips and process loans with them.

In the exercise, heads of institutions have been requested to supervise members under their jurisdiction to ensure the process is expedited and provide the correct information as dictated by the commission.

The circular copied to regional, county and sub county directors read in part “In this regard, the heads of institutions are required to verify and approve the profiles of teachers under their supervision within 30 days and have the profiles verified and approved by the respective sub county directors and county directors”.

The commission warns that heads of institution who will not have validated the particulars of teachers under their supervision within the stipulated time will not be able to access their T-PAY accounts.
