The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reshuffled its Regional Directors (RDs) as well as a host of County Directors (CDs) in the latest changes.
In the realignments, the Rift Valley RD, Samwel Marigat, has been moved to the Nairobi region, having served at the Nakuru office for barely a year. He was earlier the Kisumu CD before his promotion to RD. Education News has learnt that Marigat will be replaced by Adow Bardad, who was the Eastern RD.
Bardad will be landing in a familiar territory, having served in a similar capacity at the same station for several years before being transferred to Embu as the regional boss.
In a chain reaction of sorts, Marigat will be succeeding Victoria Muoka in Nairobi while the latter proceeds to the Central region in a similar capacity. Muoka, a long-serving field officer, was initially at the Coast as RD before being deployed in Nairobi about two years ago.
Muoka, on her part, will be taking over from Elijah Omwenga, who now heads to Western in a similar position. He will be replacing Joseph Mugel, who retired last year. Wilson Koros, who has been doubling up as the Kakamega CD and acting Western RD, has been promoted and deployed to Eastern as the new RD. Koros effectively replaces Bardad.

Unconfirmed reports also indicated that a senior staffing director at the TSC headquarters has been deployed to the Coast as RD. The fate of the incumbent, Fredrick Ng’ang’a, if true, was not clear at the time of the press.
In the CD changes, Bomet TSC boss, Dr William Yator, moves to Siaya to take over from Beatrice Ogwe, who retired recently. Yator will be succeeded by one Kioko, who has been the Wajir CD. Also affected by the changes is David Kemei, who has been the Konoin Sub-County Director (SCD). He now goes to Kuria West in a similar capacity.
TSC insiders link the Bomet changes to the raging employment letters’ scandal that has rocked the region, which has sparked public outcry. TSC has said the transfers have been effected to pave the way for independent and thorough investigations.
In other notable field changes, Emily Kiget, who has been serving as SCD at the Nairobi regional office, now moves to Tharaka Nithi as the new CD. She replaces Regina Opondo, whose fate was not immediately clear.
Also affected is Dr John Aleke, who has been the Deputy County Director (DCD) in Elgeyo Marakwet. He now proceeds to Nandi to serve as acting CD. He replaces Rose Ombisi, who retired recently. Also transferred is Solomon Buyela, who now shifts camp from Kisumu, where he was DCD, to Siaya in a similar capacity. Education News understands that a local female SCD has been appointed to succeed him in Kisumu.
