TSC appoints Sharon J. Kisire as new vice commission chairperson

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has appointed CS Sharon J. Kisire as the new Vice Commission Chairperson, effective May 21, 2026.

In an internal memo dated May 22, and seen by Education News, the appointment follows the completion of the tenure for Leila Ali Abdi.

“Following the completion of the tenure of Ms. Leila Ali Abdi, MBS as the Vice Commission Chairperson, the Commission has appointed CS Sharon J. Kisire, MBS as the TSC Vice Commission Chairperson with effect from 21st May 2026,” reads part of the memo.

Sharon Kisire holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Kenyatta University, alongside a Diploma in Human Resource Management. Additionally, she is a KASNEB Certified Secretary and a Certified Governance Auditor with the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS).

She is also an accomplished leadership practitioner, holding certifications as both an Executive Leadership Coach (CELC) and an Emotional Intelligence Assessor (CEIA).

Kisire holds more than 20 years of experience in Human Resource and organizational leadership in both public and private sectors. She has served in various Human Resource management roles at the Kenya Pipeline Company, Safaricom, Kenya Wildlife Service, National Oil Corporation, and the Mater Hospital.

She was sworn in as a Teachers Service Commission Commissioner on September 6, 2021, alongside four other commissioners for a six-year term, and has since played a key role in shaping human resource policies within Kenya’s education sector.
