  • The nationwide recruitment is expected to strengthen staffing as schools implement Competency-Based Education.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) application portal is now active, allowing eligible teachers to submit applications for 20,000 Junior School teaching positions.

The recruitment exercise officially opened on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and teachers interested in the vacancies can now log into the Commission’s online recruitment platform and proceed with their applications. The application window closes at midnight on August 31.

The vacancies are part of the government’s efforts to address the persistent teacher shortage in Junior Schools and strengthen the implementation of Competency-Based Education.

Eligible teachers have been urged to take advantage of the opening of the portal and submit their applications early rather than waiting until the final days of the recruitment exercise.

Vacancies across counties

TSC has provided details of the advertised vacancies, including positions available in different counties and sub-counties. Applicants are expected to carefully review the requirements before selecting their preferred positions.

The Commission has maintained that applications for the advertised vacancies must be submitted online through its official recruitment platform.

Teachers are therefore advised to avoid relying on unofficial links or individuals claiming to assist applicants for a fee.

The recruitment drive is expected to attract thousands of qualified teachers seeking permanent and pensionable employment opportunities within the teaching service. The advertised 20,000 positions are on permanent and pensionable terms.

Applicants are also advised to ensure that the information provided in their applications is accurate and that they meet all the academic and professional requirements for the positions they select.

The application window is scheduled to close on Monday, August 31, 2026. Teachers are therefore encouraged to complete and submit their applications before the deadline to avoid last-minute challenges.
