Treat school support staff with respect, Principals urged

Kipruto Kosgei, Embu Director Director of Education.

Embu County Director of Education Kipruto Kosgey has urged Principals to treat school support staff with a lot of respect as they perform their day- to-day duties.

Kosgey said the Ministry of Education recognises support staff and the critical role they perform.

He said that support staff are professionals in various areas of their specialization and they deserve to be treated with a lot of respect.

“Without support staff school cannot be a school, as principals and teachers let us accord them respect as we work as a team to improve the performance of our institutions,” said the Director.

He also asked Principals to always pay support staff reasonable salaries on time to boost their morale at work.

“As we know support staff are our brother and sisters who are important backbone in the running of our school programmes, let us do justice to them by paying them reasonable salary on time so that they can view us positively and boost their morale at work, ” said County Director of Education.

He said that school support staffs have families which depend on them for financial support and for their personal financial support and when they are paid on time it will be well

Kosgey also urged all school support staffs to always work professionally for the benefit of the school.

He warned support staff not to involve themselves in unprofessional behaviours but instead maintain high standard of professionalism.

Kosgey added, “We want to humbly request our teachers who are living in our various teachers’ quarters to pay rent to the school.”
