Trans Nzoia launches Ukombozi Milk Programme to boost ECDE nutrition

rans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member for Education Janerose Mutama presides over the launch of the Ukombozi Milk Programme to boost ECDE nutrition.

The Trans Nzoia County Government has rolled out the Ukombozi Milk Program targeting Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners in public schools, in a bid to improve nutrition and learning outcomes.

County Executive Committee Member for Education Janerose Mutama on Tuesday officially flagged off the initiative, describing it as a key intervention in supporting the health and growth of young learners across the county.

The program, an initiative of Governor George Natembeya, will provide a regular supply of milk to ECDE pupils, with county officials indicating it is expected to benefit thousands of children.

Mutama said the move underscores the county’s commitment to strengthening early childhood education by addressing nutritional needs that directly impact concentration and classroom performance.

Governor Natembeya’s administration has maintained that investments in early childhood programs remain central to its development agenda, with the Ukombozi Milk Program seen as a critical step in improving learner welfare across Trans Nzoia.
