Teachers across Kenya will receive their July salaries on Monday, with the second phase of the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) fully implemented, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has announced.
Speaking at Mbiriri Comprehensive School in Kieni, Nyeri County, on Saturday, Ogamba assured teachers that the government remains committed to improving their welfare through the implementation of agreements negotiated with teachers’ unions.
The Cabinet Secretary said the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) had finalised the July payroll and that all teachers would receive their salaries on schedule.
He noted that the payment will include salary adjustments provided for under Phase II of the 2025–2029 CBA, a move expected to benefit thousands of teachers across the country.
Ogamba emphasised that the government recognises the critical role teachers play in shaping the nation’s future and remains committed to addressing their welfare concerns.
He said the implementation of the CBA demonstrates the government’s commitment to honouring agreements reached with education stakeholders.
Relief for teachers
The announcement comes amid growing anticipation among teachers who had been waiting for confirmation of the implementation of the second phase of the four-year agreement.
The CBA provides for phased salary increments and improved benefits aimed at enhancing teachers’ terms and conditions of service.
Also present during the event was TSC Chairperson Dr Jamleck Muturi John, alongside other senior officials and education stakeholders.
The confirmation is expected to bring relief to teachers who had expressed concerns over delays in communication regarding their July salaries and the rollout of the latest phase of the CBA.
Education sector leaders have welcomed the announcement, saying timely salary payments and implementation of negotiated agreements are crucial in boosting teacher morale and supporting effective service delivery in schools.
Teachers across the country are now expected to receive their enhanced July salaries on Monday as the government proceeds with the implementation of the 2025–2029 CBA.
