Meet Hillary Yatich, the shining volleyball talent hailing from Kapkoris Village in Chemwochoi, Kapenguria Division, West Pokot County.

His journey into the world of sports began at Tilak Primary School, where, in class six, he discovered his passion for volleyball.

Credit goes to Martin Kororia, the school’s games teacher, who honed Yatich’s skills, propelling him to higher levels, including inter-county competitions.

Post K.C.P.E, Yatich enrolled at Kamito Boys Secondary School in West Pokot Sub-county, where he wasted no time immersing himself in rigorous volleyball training with his teammates.

His exceptional talent did not escape the notice of the volleyball technical bench, and Yatich became a key player in his school team during inter-secondary schools volleyball competitions.

In 2022, Kamito Secondary School, led by Hillary Yatich, qualified for the East Africa inter-secondary and colleges competitions in Arusha, Tanzania.

Facing off against the formidable Cheptil Boys High School from the North Rift Region in Kenya, Yatich’s team put up a commendable fight, leaving a lasting impression at the games.

Looking ahead, the reliable player harbors dreams of joining a professional volleyball team in Kenya upon completing his secondary education next year.

Currently, he diligently practices every evening at Makutano Stadium with a local team, staying fit and focused as he pursues his aspiration of playing professionally.

Hillary Yatich’s journey is not just a personal pursuit but a testament to the burgeoning talent in West Pokot County’s sports landscape.
