‘Take Education docket seriously’, KUPPET tells new CS

Kenya Union of Post- Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisumu Branch Executive Secretary Zablon Awange, has urged the new Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba to take the docket with the seriousness it deserves in the wake of challenges facing the education sector.

Awange while addressing the media in Kisumu yesterday said he expects CS Ogamba to intervene the on-going tussle between the teachers and the government through Teachers Service Commission (TSC) over the full implementation of the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

“I expect the new Education CS, Julius Ogamba to intervene to ensure that the stagnated CBA is fully implemented,” he said.

Awange said teachers expected the CBA would be sorted by last month but up to now nothing has been done with teachers now seeking to down their tools when schools re-open for third term if the government fails to honor their demands.

He further urged the education stakeholders to look into the security of participants in schools co-curricular activities expressed concerns over hooliganism which hit the concluded national Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) ball games in Kisii.
