The St. Antony Boys Senior School, Kitale, popularly known as Solidarity Boys, is rallying behind its football coach, Rodgers Omondi, who is recovering in hospital after he was reportedly attacked by bandits while on a night shift operation.

In a statement shared on the school’s official social media platforms on Sunday, the institution confirmed that the coach is receiving treatment following the attack and appealed to well-wishers to keep him in their prayers.

“Our coach Rodgers Omondi is currently receiving treatment after an attack by bandits during a night shift operation. We wish Coach Rodgers a swift recovery,” the school said.

The incident has sparked concern among students, parents, alumni, and members of the sporting fraternity, with many sending messages of support and wishing the coach a speedy recovery.

Coach Omondi is a respected member of the St. Antony Boys coaching staff and has played a key role in mentoring student-athletes while helping strengthen the school’s football programme.

Although the circumstances surrounding the attack were not immediately disclosed, the incident has renewed concerns over the safety of workers undertaking night duties in the region.

As investigations into the incident continue, the Solidarity Boys fraternity remains hopeful that Coach Omondi will recover fully and return to the touchline to continue nurturing young football talent.

The school has not provided further details regarding his condition but maintained that he is under medical care and expressed confidence in his recovery.

Our efforts to reach out to the school principal Simon Masibo for comments were futile as his phone went unanswered.
