St Ann Lioki Girls in Kiambu beats odds to perform well in national examinations

Parents of St Ann Lioki Girls High School in Kiambu Sub-county are in celebratory mood for the stellar performance of the girls in the 2024 KCSE results having overcome Covid-19 pandemic and the floods that had rocked the country which had put their education on a balance.

According to a parent, Harriet Wangari, “The girls performed well despite the natural calamities that had rocked the country since they joined Form One. They have done us proud, and we thank the school management and teachers for taking our girls through that difficult time to ensure they earn and achieve the good grades,” she said.

Mary, the mother of Jasmine Wanjiru, the top student at the school attained grade A of 84 points said, “I call upon single mothers who are toiling hard to ensure their children access education should encourage the children to perform better,” she said.

Wanjiru, the top student said that she wants to pursue Medicine and specialize in Neurosurgeon adding that determination and hardwork has borne fruits that she is proud of.

Edith Gitonga, the Principal of the school said that the institution being an extra-county school performed well compared to the previous results.

She said that the 2024 KCSE candidates were 246 and managed to get a mean score of 7.7 which is a mean grade of B-.

Some 182 students qualified for university with 36 students getting grade C, 21 had C-, 6 bagged D+, while 1 student got D.
