A family in Nyamira County was yesterday shocked after a 25 years old mother killed her two school-going children and later committed suicide.
According to her mother Josephine Omwega the deceased dressed her children in school uniform purporting to escort them to school but never reached there.
Instead she diverted into a thicket where she fed the children with poison and took the remaining amount which killed the three of them instantly.
The bizzare act attracted the attention of the villagers who gathered at the scene and later informed the police from Manga station about the incident.
Police investigation discovery a colourless club bottle which they believed carried the suspected poison and took it for more investigation.

The bodies of the two children who lay besides that of their mother were identified as Joy Omwega and 9, and Jayden Omwega of Irianyi primary School in Nyamira County. The lady was also identified as Eunice Omwega from Isincha village in Tombe location.
The three bodies were taken to Nyangena Hospital mortuary to await burial.
Following the incident, stakeholders from the community urged families to share their problems by opening up and talk to one another in order to avoid deaths that are caused by stress and other pressures in life.
Kisii based Psychologists Valentine Nyasetia lamented the high rate of suicide cases in the family and attributed them to the rising costs of living, family disintegrations and excessive drug and substance abuse.
She asked communities to embrace self-control, hope in God and seek help from guidance and counselling experts whenever they felt threatened by external circumstances in their lives.
Emphasizing on the importance of people to remain resilient in life, she asked them to create their own internal social governing based on Christian principles to help them fight any psychological complications that they may encounter in their lives.
