Sh100,000 new textbooks razed in evening fire

A school in Laikipa East Sub-county is counting loses after fire razed textbooks worth Sh100, 000.
The fire at Mugumo Primary School destroyed books at 6pm on the same day they were delivered and were to be distributed to the pupils the following day.
The Laikipia County firefighters put it out before it spread to the classrooms. Pupils and students had left for their homes when the incident occurred.
The cause of the fire was yet to be established by authorities.
The school head teacher Peter Maina said that the school has no boarding facilities and is not connected to power adding that the timber building contained deputy head teacher’s office,a book store and one classroom.
Umande Ward Representative Daniel Mugweru asked the police to investigate the matter expeditiously.
