A secondary school teacher from Kilgoris West sub county is sustaining serious injuries after being attacked by students.
The teacher, Fred Machuki was attacked as he carried out his duties at Poroko Secondary School in Narok County.
The institution had hosted other schools to witness a live stage performance of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) English literature and Swahili Fasihi set books.
During the event, one male student went to copulate with a female student from another school behind the tuition block.
They requested another student to keep watch in case anyone was to come their way but Mr. Machuki caught them pants down and apprehended them.
“I could not believe my eyes when I found the students in that compromising state,” he said.
When friends of the apprehended boy learned about it, they decided to stone the teacher so as to save their fellow from being reported.
They chased him, caught him and beat him up until he collapsed leaving him in a bad state.
Tension filled the air when Poroko Secondary school students demanded that the students who participated in beating up their teacher leave their school. This led to a commotion that left many school windows and furniture broken.
The injured teacher was taken to St Joseph’s Kilgoris hospital while eighteen students who were injured in the melee were rushed to Akemo hospital in Nyangusu town.
An Akemo hospital medical officer who spoke anonymously said that sixteen out of the eighteen injured students were treated and discharged over minor injuries. He said the remaining two sustained serious injuries but were not in any form of danger.
“They are responding well to drugs and are safe,” he said.
Poroko Secondary School principal declined to comment on the cost of the damages until its proper estimate had been done.
