School heads from the Nyanza region have decried the large number of uncollected Form Four certificates still lying in various learning institutions across the region.
Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) Region Chairperson George Opiyo impressed upon the Form Four students who have yet to collect the vital documents to do so.
Opiyo said it is prudent for the certificate owners to collect them since they are legally bona fide owners.
The chairman was speaking at the Nyakach Girls High School in Kisumu County, where the Education Cabinet Secretary, Julius Ogamba, commissioned a hostel with a capacity of 750.
Opiyo said it is not true that principals withhold some certificates for various reasons.
The chairman said the continued use of the documents at schools exposed them to mishaps such as fires and unrest.
Opiyo said they are prepared for the Competency-Based Education and assured parents that their learners are in safe hands.

He urged parents to ensure their children pursue the correct pathways as they prepare to move to the next level.
Ogamba stated that the completion of the hostel aligns with the school’s proud tradition of academic excellence.
For example, in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (KCSE), Ogamba said the school achieved a creditable mean of 7.1 (C+) with a 68 per cent transition to university.
All the 494 candidates who sat the KCSE he observed qualified to pursue a college education, including TVET institutions.
In addition to academics, he said he is impressed that Nyakach Girls is a hub of co-curricular activities where girls have won many regional and national honours.
