School watchman, charged with defiling PP 2 pupil

A 48-year-old school watchman at a school in Likoni has been charged with the offence of defiling a five-year-old minor.

He was however charged with the counts of unlawfully and intentionally defiling a minor aged five years and that of committing an indecent act with a child.

Ali Mohammed Choco, a guard at Bridge International School appeared before Mombasa chief magistrate, Martha Mutuku and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

“On diverse dates between April 1, 2022, and August 9, 2023 at the Vyemani area in Likoni sub-county within Mombasa County, unlawfully and intentionally defiled a minor aged five years and also unlawfully touched the minor’s private part,” read the charges.

According to the victim’s mother, her daughter came home from school on August 4, 2023, smelling feases but she declined to explain why she had soiled herself.

On August 7 after the minor came home producing an unusual odour, the mother was forced to examine her and she discovered that the minor had been defiled on several occasions

She then reported the matter at Inuka Police Station.

Police investigations indicate that the suspect would lure the minor and defile her after classes inside his resting room within the school compound.

The court ordered he be released on a bond of Sh300, 000 with one similar surety with an alternative of Sh200, 000 cash bail.

The matter will be mentioned on, August 23, 2023, for pretrial purposes.
