Nyosia Secondary School has received Ksh3 million from the area NG-CDF to assist in the purchase of a new school bus.

Speaking at the school when he handed them the cheque, Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda said that education is the key to development and promised to prioritize it.

Jhanda asked the school’s Management Committee to seek alternative ways of generating income to reduce dependence on school fees and grants from the government to develop the school.

“Make use of the school land to grow crops like tea or raise dairy animals to get money and add on to the school treasury for development,” he said.

Principal Robert Kaibe said that the school has embarked on early syllabus coverage and is now offering remedial lessons for slow learners to ensure improved results in the forthcoming national examinations.

Kaibe appealed to the government to fund the school to enable the expansion of classrooms, dormitories and laboratories considering the swelling population brought about by the 100 percent transition of pupils from primary to secondary schools.

He thanked the MP for the bus initiative and said that it will assist students in accomplishing fieldwork studies and ease transportation to and from extra-curricular activities.
