School in Kapenguria beats peers to emerge best in county music festival

St. Mary’s Assumption Primary Kapenguria has emerged one of the top schools after attaining Position 1 in Class 1019 Junior Secondary and Position 1 in class 1103H in the 2023 Kenya Music Festival county level in West Pokot County held at the school.

The Festival kicked off on a high note from July 4 to 5 in an event that brought together all qualifiers from the sub-county level with participants observing great improvement from last year’s event.

An upcoming school, CPsukuno Primary School from Pokot South garnered Position 2 in class 1002H and Position 1 in Class 1003 Junior Secondary.

The classes were performed by Cynthia Chemwetich and Alice Chetum respectively with trainers Monica Limo and Nelly Cheptembur.

Another top performing school was Kururu Primary School which got Position 1 in Class 814 for their Pokot dance, Position 1 in Class 274 with a Folk Song and Position 2 in Class 285, a Sacred Song. The skilled trainers were Emmanuel Kokita and Nashon Lomarkar.

Lokichar Primary School was satisfied with Position 2 in Class 814 after performing a song about a bumper harvest under training from Joel Poisho and Elizabeth Chepar.

Other best performing schools were, Lokarkar Primary School from Pokot Central sub-county, Losam and Kodich AIC from Pokot North sub-county. Kodich AIC took Position 1 and Losam Primary School took Position 2 in Class 841.
