- President Ruto has formally appointed Wilson Sossion and Antonina Lentoijoni as TSC commissioners for a six-year term through a special gazette notice
- The National Assembly Education Committee had unanimously approved their appointments on August 25, 2026, clearing the way for Sossion and Lentoijoni to formally take up their roles at the Commission.
President William Ruto has formally appointed former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion and TSC Director of Staffing Antonina Lentoijoni as members of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for a six-year term.
Their appointments were made under Article 250(2) of the Constitution, read together with Section 8(10) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, through a special gazette notice issued “in exercise of powers conferred on the President under Article 250(2) of the Constitution and Section 8(10) of the Teachers Service Commission Act.”
The notice was signed by President Ruto in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, and was issued in accordance with the procedure set out under the First Schedule to the Public Service Commission Act.
The formal appointment follows a parliamentary approval process where the National Assembly Education Committee, chaired by Tinderet MP Julius Melly, unanimously approved their appointments on August 25, 2026, after examining their academic qualifications, professional experience, integrity and suitability for the positions.

Lentoijoni brings more than 26 years of experience in the education sector, including nearly two decades in senior management at TSC, where she has overseen decisions affecting thousands of teachers as Director of Staffing.
Sossion brings extensive experience in teacher representation and education policy, having served as KNUT Secretary General and later as a nominated Member of Parliament between 2017 and 2022.

The two will join the Commission that oversees the management and regulation of teachers in Kenya’s public education system, at a time when TSC is grappling with teacher shortages, workload, deployment challenges, remuneration concerns and growing demands for accountability.
