Thousands of serving teachers now have another chance to climb the career ladder after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) re-advertised 1,631 promotional vacancies across public schools.
The fresh recruitment exercise has opened opportunities for teachers seeking to move into leadership positions, with the Commission targeting qualified serving educators under its Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers. The vacancies cover three positions in school administration: Deputy Principal III (Regular), Senior Master II and Deputy Headteacher II (Regular). The biggest opportunity is reserved for teachers seeking appointment as Deputy Headteacher II (Regular), with 1,470 positions available at Grade C4, T-Scale 9. The Commission has also announced 132 vacancies for Deputy Principal III (Regular) at Grade D1, T-Scale 11, alongside 29 positions for Senior Master II, also at Grade D1 and T-Scale 11.
TSC has directed qualified candidates to submit their applications online through the Commission’s recruitment portal, with the deadline set for midnight on Monday, September 14, 2026. Teachers intending to apply have been urged to complete the online process early rather than wait until the final hours, when heavy traffic on the recruitment platform could make submission difficult.

In an important clarification, TSC has spared teachers who had already applied during the earlier advertisement, saying candidates who previously applied for these positions and successfully submitted their applications do not need to apply again, as their earlier applications will remain valid for consideration under the current re-advertisement. TSC has maintained that only applications submitted through the official online platform will be considered, with manual applications not accepted, and said successful candidates will be posted to institutions where the advertised vacancies exist.
The latest vacancies are expected to generate strong competition, particularly for the 1,470 Deputy Headteacher II positions, which account for the overwhelming majority of the advertised posts. Teachers seeking promotion will need to ensure they meet the prescribed qualifications before submitting their applications. TSC has also reaffirmed its commitment to equal opportunity and encouraged qualified persons with disabilities to participate in the recruitment process.
