Pioneer South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Geoffrey Muluvi has assured students and stakeholders that the varsity will remain steadfast in its quest to provide quality education even as his term approaches the end come May 2023.
Speaking during SEKU’s 9th graduation ceremony where 992 students graduated, Muluvi who has been the VC since 2014, claimed that he was retiring with his head held high since during the nearly 10 years he has been at the helm, students have never gone on strike. He said they had always embraced dialogue to resolve issues.
“SEKU was issued a charter by former President Mwai Kibaki in 2013. It was previously South Eastern University College. The university has attained development and the student enrolment has hit the 10,040 mark,” he added.
He noted that as the university experiences fast growth in numbers, the university has remained committed to provision of quality education.
SEKU has been on an impressive expansion trajectory that has seen it launch campuses in Kitui and Wote towns. Plans to establish Mwingi town campus are in top gear.
The VC promised all partners and customers that the university will continue offering quality services in all sectors as they continue setting up other campuses.
The State Department of University Education and Research Principal Secretary (PS) Simon Nabukwesi, who was the chief guest, concluded by saying that he will ensure that education services are delivered to all citizens.
