Learners at Rerendet ECDE Centre in Mogogosiek Ward, Bomet County, have received a major boost following the commissioning of a modern classroom aimed at improving the quality of early childhood education.

The classroom was officially commissioned by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education and Vocational Training, Patrick Maritim, accompanied by the Chief Officer for Education, Dr John Keter.

Improving early learning

The new facility is expected to provide a safe, spacious and child-friendly learning environment, creating better conditions for young learners during their formative years.

The project forms part of the Bomet County Government’s continued investment in strengthening Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) infrastructure across all wards.

Speaking during the commissioning, county education officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring every child has access to quality learning facilities that promote academic growth and holistic development.

The new classroom comes just weeks after concerns were raised over inadequate learning facilities at Rerendet ECDE Centre during an oversight visit by the Senate Education Committee, which called for urgent improvements to the institution’s infrastructure.

The county government has embarked on an ambitious programme to construct modern ECDE classrooms across the county, complete with furniture, sanitation facilities and water infrastructure, as part of efforts to expand access to quality early childhood education.
