Primary and JSS games calendar for Term Two 2026 released

The Kenya Primary Junior Secondary Schools Sports Association (KPJSSA) has officially released the calendar for the 2026 Term Two games, setting the stage for a highly competitive season across the country.

The games will feature five disciplines: football, volleyball, netball, basketball 3×3, and handball, bringing together talented young athletes from schools across Kenya.

Road to county championships

According to the schedule, sub-county competitions will be held on dates to be determined by the respective sub-county sports committees, providing teams with the first opportunity to qualify for higher levels of competition.

The county championships are set to take place in Takaba, Mandera County, with teams expected to arrive on July 15, 2026.

Matches will be played from July 16 to July 18 as schools battle for county honours and qualification to the regional stage.

Regional games in Mandera

Takaba will also host the North Eastern Regional Games immediately after the county championships.

Participating teams will arrive on July 19, with competitions scheduled from July 20 to July 22.

Successful teams from the regional games will earn tickets to the National Games, which will be held in Kiambu County from July 25 to August 2, 2026.

Race for national glory

The national championships are expected to attract the country’s top junior school talents competing for national honours.

The season will culminate in the East Africa Games scheduled for August 12 to August 22 in Morogoro, Tanzania, where Kenya’s best teams will face regional rivals from across East Africa.

Schools urged to prepare

Sports officials have urged schools to begin preparations early by organizing training sessions for players, coaches, and officials to ensure smooth participation and improved performance at all levels of competition.

With the calendar now confirmed, schools across the North Eastern region are expected to intensify training as they aim for success in one of the most anticipated school sports seasons of the year.
