President William Ruto today, Saturday, May 9, 2026, joined thousands of students, teachers, alumni and education stakeholders in marking 120 years since the establishment of Maseno School.
The celebrations, held at the school in Maseno, highlighted the institution’s long-standing legacy in academic excellence, leadership development and co-curricular success.
School Chief Principal Peter Owino led the teaching fraternity in commemorating the milestone, describing Maseno as a “giant” in Kenya’s education sector.
Mr Owino likened the institution’s organisation and culture of excellence to the structured development associated with Singapore, saying the school has remained a model of discipline, consistency and high academic standards for generations.
“Maseno School remains a giant in education and continues to inspire schools across the country through its strong traditions and performance,” he said.

President Ruto praised the institution for its contribution to national development through the production of leaders in public service, business, religion and academia.
The Head of State said the government would continue supporting learning institutions in order to strengthen the country’s education system and prepare learners for a competitive global environment.
He also commended teachers for their commitment to mentoring students and preserving the school’s culture of excellence.
The event attracted former students, religious leaders, government officials and education stakeholders from different parts of the country.

Students entertained guests with cultural performances, parades and choir presentations as the institution reflected on its 120-year journey since its establishment in 1906.
