President William Ruto has invited all teachers’ leadership for a consultative meeting at State House, Nairobi on Friday September 12, 2025.
In widely circulated memo, signed by the Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT secretary general Collins Oyuu and directed to all KNUT Executive Secretaries, the union confirmed the invite urging all the union’s elected leaders to prepare their teams for the day.
“Notice is hereby given of all elected KNUT leaders’ visit to Statehouse, Nairobi on the invitation of His Excellency, the President of Kenya and the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces. The meeting will be held at the Statehouse Grounds, Nairobi on Friday, September 12, 202 as from 10:00 am,” reads the memo.

“The purpose of this notice is to enable you to prepare your teams which will include all BEC members and a sampled few members of your School representatives as you shall be guided by a correspondence that will be released to you in the course of the day Monday September 8,2025,” reads part of the notice.
This invite comes amid myriad crises surrounding the education sector, with perennial schools capitation funds delay, shrinking of the student allocated fund to support free education system and the Senior School grade 10 transitions drive which is in due 2026.
The teacher unions too have been wrestling for the employment of more teachers to curb the shortages seen in various counties and enhance the seamless CBC implementation.
