Nakuru County government yesterday launched a bursary amounting to Ksh287 million set to benefit 49,865 students across the county.

Speaking at the event held at Langalanga Secondary School, Nakuru CEC for Education Zipporah Ngugi said that despite the court battle that delayed the disbursement of the bursaries, the release would ease the burden of the students and ensure they don’t have uninterrupted learning.

She said that the processing of the funds has been done in a transparent manner and assured the parents and the residents that the funds would be wired to school accounts in earnest.

Nakuru county assembly majority leader William Mutai said that such legal obstacles to block counties from issuing bursaries to needy students is unnecessary and should be resolved in an amicable way to avoid interrupting the interests of the students.
