Malindi and Magarini sub-counties in Kilifi County urgently need over 1,000 primary school teachers in understaffed schools, Education News has reliably established.
Speaking to this writer from Malindi town recently, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Malindi branch Executive Secretary Fredrick Nguma said the two sub-counties are currently facing an acute shortage of staff.
The Executive secretary disclosed that deployment of more teachers in the sub-counties would enhance effective teaching and learning.
Nguma attributed dismal performances in national examinations to lack of teachers.
He further asked all education stakeholders in the two sub-counties to work as a team to ensure they provide essential learning facilities in schools to enable children learn.
