The entire Kakamega community is mourning the loss of one of the county government’s most veteran senior staff members.
Doreen Amwoga, who was serving as the County’s Chief Officer for Education and also acting in the Public Administration docket, died last night after a brief illness while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Eldoret.
Governor Fernandes Barasa led other politicians in expressing their shock over the death and paying their tributes.
Barasa termed Amwoga a dedicated public servant who saw her rise from the position of Ward Administrator in 2014 to a Chief Officer.
“She was a hardworking servant who took her duties with gusto, courage and utmost professionalism. That is why I retained her and even handed her more responsibilities when I took over in 2022. We shall miss her dearly,” he said in a press statement.
The sentiments were echoed by Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, who described Amwoga as an illustrious public servant.
